I have this really cool title: Associate Pastor for Family Ministries and Mission Development. It sounds really important and way too sophisticated for me. I'm not sure what other title I would choose, but basically I just try to help families integrate faith into their daily lives. Being a second career minister, I think I look at the church through a different set of eyes understanding that the church must remove all barriers so that today's families of all shapes and sizes feel comfortable in the church. I believe without a doubt that the church must work hard to help families to weave faith into their every day lives so that the decisions they have to make are faithful ones. No longer can the church sit back and wait for people to come in the doors, but instead we must reach out and meet people where they are allowing God to reach through us to them. I remain excited and hopeful about the impact the church that is willing to change can have on the lives that are touched. I live just a little on the edge constantly seeking innovative ways to engage families and others in faith development and service.
